GATRADEWATA NEWS | BALI | To the Aussies still in #Bali, please consider returning home. Flights back to Australia are running out, and at the moment Qantas, Virgin, Jetstar and Air Asia have suspended their services for a few months at least.

This means that the longer you leave it, the smaller your chance of getting home, potentially for months. Think about your family and friends, they may be concerned and want you to come home. If this is reason enough you should fly home now.

Even if your family and friends aren’t worried, think about healthcare in Indonesia. You may not have any health concerns right now and think that COVID-19 won’t affect you because you are fit and young. But what if you need to go to hospital for any other reason: if you’re in a scooter accident, get dengue or a serious bout of Bali belly and you need a drip. Hospitals here are under pressure and will be more so as #COVID19 gets worse. They may not be able to help you-health concerns that would otherwise be easily dealt with routinely, could now become life-threatening.

Lastly, please consider what it will be like in Bali as internal travel restrictions are enforced. Access to roads, transport, food supply and other local government services may become seriously limited. Are you prepared to wait this out for months in your current accommodation? Can you navigate a foreign system in lockdown?

Please subscribe to smartraveller.gov.au travel advice, be informed about the risks of staying. And if you decide to leave, do so immediately. We are working around the clock to ensure the safety of as many Australians in Indonesia as possible, but we encourage you to leave, now.
